Excellent overview of Mind Expanding Techniques

I bought the book years ago and read it three times. It is a very good overview of the subjects.
The part I like the most is the Self-hynosis part. I have been following the recipes to make my own self-hypnosis tapes over the years. I have had only excellent results.
If record one tape a year (more or less), to accomplish different results, and I use them often until I reach my goals.
I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to reprogram some undesirable patterns of behavior.

I see why Roy Hunter does the hero worship thing in all his books about Mr. Tebbetts!

Well, Charles Tebbetts is a genuine pioneer in bringing all the "mind stuff" and mental sciences together and is very easy to understand and read. If he was not, I would not have went through all the trouble I went through to find a newer copy of this book.

Well, here is the back story: My Mom and I went to The Psychic Eye bookstore in Thousand Oaks a few months ago, and I was actually secretly hoping I would find a new version of this book at a reasonable price. I have an older version, but it is rather dog eared and quite used. Well, I found it as well as an old C. Roy Hunter mind power book, I opted to get exactly what I wanted, and I genuinely have no regrets. You will not, when you get this book because I will repeat what I said above in a *hypnotic* way: Well, Charles Tebbetts is a genuine pioneer in bringing all the "mind stuff" and mental sciences together and is very easy to understand and read. About the Author
Chef Ozcan Ozan grew up in Izmir, Turkey, and has been cooking for nearly thirty years. Before coming to Boston he cooked professionally in Europe and Turkey, learning his craft in the traditional European fashion of working at each kitchen position until he became executive chef. He attended the Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris. He is a member of the James Beard Association and cooked for the 1995 James Beard Awards dinner. His restaurant, Sultan's Kitchen, has been profiled in the Boston Phoenix as well as the Boston Globe, and was selected as the Best Middle Eastern Restaurant in Boston for 1997 by Boston Magazine. Zagat Restaurant Survey has ranked Sultan's Kitchen as Boston's Best Middle Eastern Restaurant for four years. Ozcan has appeared on TV and radio programs here and abroad. He lives north of Boston with his wife and two sons.

Photographer Carl Tremblay is well known for his knack of bringing out the beauty in food and food-related objects. He created the photographs for The Olives Table (1997), and his work regularly appears in Boston Magazine as well as Cook's Illustrated, Inc. Magazine, and Yankee magazine.

The Real Deal

It isn't often that I buy a cookbook where EVERY recipe is something I would make. I bought this particular book because the author is Turkish and I wanted to cook Turkish food the way a Turk would cook it. There were a couple of spices that my local grocery store doesn't carry (and never heard of) but Penzey's came to the rescue. If you live in a large metropolitan area, you shouldn't have a problem finding everything. In a smaller town, you may need to rely on an online source for some of those hard-to-find ingredients. Well worth it.... I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to cook authentic Turkish food.

A Stunning Turkish Cook Book! The recipes that I have born and grew up with, cooked by grand mothers and the mother. I bought this book to pass along the most significant kitchen recipes to my wife, who is really good on cooking. She loved it and I confirm the recipes and the explanations within the pictures and every single details given perfectly the best in this book.

Flavorful, simple, and forgiving recipes

I bought this book 5 years ago and it's been well used. We find this book is a consistent go-to. The flavors are complex and the techniques are helpful. Some repeat family requests are Red Lentil, Bulgur and Mint soup, bulgur pilaf, char grilled chicken shish kebab, and spinach/cheese boreks. The recipes are simple and forgiving, especially when you're missing an ingredient not so easily found outside of Turkey or major metropolitan areas in the US.

The Book Overall

The book gives great detail for someone who wishes to learn the art of Interior Design. Although there are one or two measurements in space planning that are a tad out of date it is a great start of book and I highly recommend that anyone interested in starting a career in this field buy this book. Great book for college students starting off in Interior Design 100 at Fullerton College! I give 5 stars.

Now in English-It was worth the price even in a language I can't read

I don't read French, that being said I have owned and used Malmassari's first edition happily for over a decade. The illustrations alone are worth the cost of that book.

I get it all in a language I can read! Plus the new edition is updated. It has the trains from the recent wars in the Balkans. It has an expanded section on the Japanese Imperial trains. OK I'm not going to list everything it has. It is a lot easier to mention what it doesn't have. That would be nothing. I'm sure there is some really obscure train or rail trolley that isn't here. I have no idea what it is. Because ever train I've ever heard of IS here, plus a lot that I've never seen anywhere else. If you want to buy a book on armored trains buy this. Don't wait, don't hesitate. Buy this book!

Don't Believe the Hype

I bought this book because of the rave reviews and this book was total crap. It wasn't very funny or vaguely interesting. At least you can now use the "look inside" feature and check some of it out for yourself. If you find this type of material funny, it might be for you. I would not recommend it. The material lends itself to be very funny if done right, but these guys just don't provide the laughs with this one.

Here's the thing. Im' a 28-year-old female who appreciates dirty filthy humor. I was even a huge laughing-so-hard-I'm-crying fan of the Tucker Max autobio. This book is nothing like that. It's just poorly written and all over the place in terms of topics. So much so that I can't even finish the prologue let alone the first chapter!

If you like the raunchy, unbelievable stories, stick to Tucker, Chelsea Handler, and the people who are tried and true in this department.

His books include Anatomy of Therapy and Touching the Relational Edge. He is the Editor-in-Chief of The International Body Psychotherapy Journal, and an editor with Body Dance and Movement in Psychotherapy, Psychotherapy and Politics International and Self and Society.

This is a wonderfully coherent book

This is a wonderfully coherent book. The author provides the reader with a solid base of information regarding attachment theory and the evolution of how the body has been viewed in psychoanalytic theory. With writing that is beautiful - often poetic, the author is generous in his acknowledgement of those who have influenced his thinking and work with people.

Best there is, for now.

Most lie groups books fall into one of two categories: geometrically motivated ones, and algebraically motivated ones. I prefer the former. If you're perfectly happy with a more algebraic treatment, read no further.

There aren't very many geometrically flavored books on lie groups; I can think of only this one and "Compact lie groups" by Sepanski. His book has a nicer treatment of harmonic analysis, but this one beats his in almost every other respect. Sepanski is often too concise.

Still, this book has a long way to go to be really great. Though you're not assumed to have a prior knowledge of lie groups (just smooth manifold theory), you're going to crash and burn without it. That's why I suggest John Lee's Introduction to Smooth Manifolds before taking on this book. It has the best preparation in elementary lie groups you'll ever hope to find. It'll prepare you for Brocker and Dieck. Even then, the book isn't incredibly well written.

In short, there is no really well-written text on lie groups from a geometric perspective, but this one's the best there is. I hope someone writes a better one eventually.

I loved this book

I loved this book. It is marketed as a children's book and it won a much deserved Newbery Honor. It is from a 7th grade boy's perspective during 1967-1968 (Vietnam War and the assassinations) while learning Shakespeare. It has so many little tidbits to think about. Tidbits like:

"But perfect or not, it was hard living in between."

"We read The Merchant of Venice the next Wednesday, too, and finished it on the last Wednesday of October. After we closed our books, Mrs. Baker asked me to discuss the character of Shylock. “He isn’t really a villain,” I said, “is he?” “No,” said Mrs. Baker, “he isn’t.” “He’s more like someone who wants...” “Who wants what, Mr. Hoodhood?” “Someone who wants to become who he’s supposed to be,” I said. Mrs. Baker considered that. “And why couldn’t he?” she asked. “Because they wouldn’t let him. They decided he had to be a certain way, and he was trapped. He couldn’t be anything except for what he was,” I said. “And that is why the play is called a tragedy,” said Mrs. Baker."

"At the happy ending of The Tempest, Prospero brings the king back together with his son, and finds Miranda’s true love, and punishes the bad duke, and frees Ariel, and becomes a duke himself again. Everyone—except for Caliban—is happy, and everyone is forgiven, and everyone is fine, and they all sail away on calm seas. Happy endings. That’s how it is in Shakespeare. But Shakespeare was wrong. Sometimes there isn’t a Prospero to make everything fine again. And sometimes the quality of mercy is strained."

Great balance of fun and serious

Bought this book after reading it because my wife and I felt it was worth having. Actually, I listened to the audiobook, but my wife actually read it. The story has a little bit of everything. It follows the adventures of a young teenage boy dealing with life and trying to figure out who he wants to be. The adventures cover the school year and range from the comedic escape of the class rats to the emotional growth required when one's hero dies. It has pranks, Shakespeare, and political issues, but everything is well balanced and suitable for even young audiences.

After buying this copy, we listen to it as a family while my 10 year old read along. The 5 year old didn't quite grasp the more serious concepts, but enjoyed it anyway. As for me, it was still entertaining to listen to again. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick, fun read or as something that can spark discussions for a book club. I don't think you would be disappointed.

Finally, a book that can stand beside Bel Kaufman's "Up the Down Staircase" and Frances Gray Patton's "Good Morning, Miss Dove". Good teachers have almost been driven out of existence because the added baggage of standardized tests, profiles, red tape and (lack of) discipline hamper them at every turn. This marvelous gem truly gives credence to the phrase "it takes a village..." I have become a great fan of Gary Schmidt since my grandson had to read this book as well as "Okay, for Now". As a parent, this reminds us that we are ALL teachers of those around us...some for good, some for bad.

A lot of info contained here from the conception to production during the war years. Manufactures are listed with their roles during the war years. The only criticism I have is it is not very user friendly reference, be prepared to hunt thru the book to find any specific info you may be looking for.

More than a gun book

I just finished re-reading War Baby and I can attest that Larry Ruth did a bang up job on presenting a great amount of data. While the specifics on parts identification is there for collectors, and many diagrams of differences between manufacturers is helpful to the committed carbine nut, the greatest strength of this work is the painstaking research done to give a solid appreciation of what our country was like during WWII and to identify and honor the industrialists who overcame almost unbelieveable odds to get this rifle into the hands of troops. Each manufacturer has a section with tidbits and trivia about their successes and failures. The heroics of the employees of these various companies is highlighted and credit is given to shop foremen, designers, ordnance officials, and the average worker who made the whole system work. This is a fascinating historical work even if you're not interested in the carbine. It's expensive but you'll not be sorry.
